Main purpose of role:
Responsible for the efforts and results of the financial department. Reporting to the CFO for all financial and accounting activities. Overseeing the finance team in day-to-day operations.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all financial accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Payroll, Fixed Assets, FOREX, Cars, Cashflow and Revenue Recognition
  • Prepare and publish timely accurate monthly management accounts and supporting information (<10 working days from month end)
  • Co-ordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Supervise and manage financial department staff (x3)
  • Prepare the year end pack and associated information for statutory reporting
  • Responsible for the overall month-end and year-end close processes providing direction to the supporting team
  • Ensure high standards of financial control over transactions and financial reporting
  • Respond to additional government reporting obligations like ONS and regular corporation tax & VAT filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies for appropriate management and system controls
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to ensure high levels of accuracy
  • Ensure team members are appropriately trained or updated in relevant changes in GAAP
  • Additional ad hoc tasks & duties as requested

Personal Specification

Educational qualifications or experience:

  • Qualified Accountant (FCCA, CIMA, ICAEW etc.)
  • Sufficient experience of systems to perform the key responsibilities above. ERP implementation an advantage, as is D365 experience

Key Skills:

  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
  • Significant experience in a finance environment with responsibility for team management
    Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Able to prepare a full set of statutory accounts, including notes for a medium sized company or larger
  • High attention to detail with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced skills in Excel (design and proficiency)
